Does the Bottomless Buffet End, and What Is at the Bottom?
Floor 1000 has been cleared, first on 2026-08-20 and most recently on 2026-08-27 by a third runner. This page keeps the clears separate from the conclusion people have drawn from them, shows the loadout that got there, and answers the question the record coverage skips: whether there is any reason to follow.

How Many Floors Does the Bottomless Buffet Have?
The deepest floor anyone has documented is 1000. Three Japanese players have cleared it on stream: 新月 on 2026-08-20, らんど on 08-24 and ur on 08-27. Viewers of the first stream report that no floor 1001 followed. Nobody has said either way about the second or the third, which is why three clears have moved this page less than you would expect. Nintendo has published no floor count, no wiki article states one, and nobody has datamined one, so 1000 is the bottom of the documented record rather than a confirmed cap.
The mode has three parts and only the last one is open ended. Floors 1 to 99 are the climb, floor 100 is a boss arena that stands apart from the run, and floors 101 onward are the part players mean when they say the Buffet is endless. That last stretch is where every depth record lives, and it is the stretch that now appears to stop at 1000.
| Section | Floors | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| The climb | 1 to 99 | Survivalist rules, a fixed run to the boss. Unlocked after the hidden ruins. Covered in our Bottomless Buffet guide. |
| Gold Club | 100 | The Lord Saltimatum arena, listed as its own dungeon (JP: 無限食堂黄金の間). Pays the Legendary Loot relic and the Golden Forever outfit. This is the floor the game treats as the finish line. |
| The deep floors | 101 to 1000 | Randomised stages, Salmonid levels rising without a stated ceiling, a high score kept per build. Every depth record on our records page sits in here. |
The name is doing some work here. 無限食堂, the Japanese name, means the endless dining hall, and the developers described the mode in their own interview as going deeper and deeper with no end in sight. Read against a floor-1000 clear, that reads as a description of the experience rather than a statement about the data. Two things that circulated before the clear can now be put down: Game8 English wrote that there was unlikely to be an end even at floor 1000, and a run of 9999 figures on 5ch were always jokes riffing on Salmon Run.
What Do You Get for Clearing Floor 1000?
Nothing you could not get one floor earlier. Floor 1000 pays the experience and rare-weapon drops any floor at that difficulty pays. There is no title, no costume, and no dialogue acknowledging the clear.
That account comes from Kotaku, whose reporter reviewed the archived stream on 2026-08-21 and went looking for the payoff specifically. It matters more than a record does, because it is the part that decides whether anyone should follow. Their advice to everyone else was to stop at 100, and on the evidence it is hard to argue with.
The contrast with floor 100 is the useful way to hold this. Floor 100 hands you a relic that occupies its own extra slot and a cosmetic outfit that exists to be seen, which is a game marking an accomplishment. Nine hundred floors later there is no marker at all. Our own reading, and it is a reading rather than a finding: a designed final floor would normally announce itself, so the silence at 1000 is consistent either with a hard technical limit nobody was expected to reach, or with a floor cap that simply ends the list.
The Loadout That Cleared Floor 1000
Our records page lists 新月 with no published build, because he has never posted one. The description below is Kotaku reading the footage, not the runner publishing a loadout, so treat it as a report of what was on screen. It is worth printing anyway: every name in it checks out against our own gadget database, and the one name that does not resolves cleanly.
| Slot | What he ran | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Speed Tank, Ultra grade | Ultra is not optional here, and nobody says so. See the note under the table. |
| Weapon | Charger | Single-target damage into the large Salmonids while airborne. Three separate parties who watched the footage describe a charger, which is worth exactly one observation, since they watched the same footage. |
| Gadget | Torqscrew | Vacuums the floor into one pile. Tactical-tank gadget, 15 second cooldown, the longest in the game, and a Hideout Ship level 3 unlock at 5,000 Spirhalite Shards. |
| Gadget | Jump Bomb | Gets him off the ground and keeps him there, run with parts that raise the jump. Airtime is the defence: nothing in the pile reaches him. |
| Gadget | Blast Boot | Freeze. One of only three gadgets that carry a Freeze part, and the field builds we publish run it at 100%. |
The loop is legible even secondhand. Torqscrew gathers the floor into a heap, Blast Boot freezes the heap, Jump Bomb lifts him above it, and the charger picks off the large Salmonids from the air while the small ones cannot answer. It is the freeze build our status-effects and builds guides already describe, with the vacuum in the third slot instead of the usual mobility filler, which is what turns a crowd into a target.
Here is the part nobody states, and it is the reason most players cannot copy this. Torqscrew belongs to the Tactical tank, not the Speed tank, and the loadout carries three gadgets rather than two. Both of those are only possible at one point in the game: the Ultra grade, which adds the third slot and opens exactly one other tank pool, with Speed gaining Tactical. So this is not a Speed Tank build. It is an Ultra Speed Tank build, and the grade is the gate. That derivation is ours, from our gadgets guide, and Kotaku does not mention it.
One correction we are making openly rather than quoting around. Kotaku lists Blast Boot in the loadout and then credits the freezing to a "Blast Bomb", which is not a gadget in this game. Blast Boot is, it is already in their own list, and it is a freeze gadget. We have read that as a slip and printed the gadget that exists.
The Second Clear Used a Different Method
The documented clears did not all solve floor 1000 the same way, and that difference is the most useful thing to come out of the ones after the first. The record coverage tells you who. This is the part that tells you how.
Viewers of らんど's own upload describe a run built on ring-outs rather than damage. Rather than killing the large Salmonids he pushes them off the edge, using the screw gadget at the rim and a Squid Roll to shove them over. Several people say it independently, one of them in English, and one of them puts the reason plainly: the deeper you go, the more the heavyweights soak up even on the standard build, so displacing one is cheaper than killing it. A viewer who watched both clears says outright that this is a different approach from the first floor-1000 conqueror.
We cannot watch footage, so that is an audience describing a screen, and we label it as such. What makes it worth printing is that it closes against something we published before either clear happened. Our trivia page has carried "frozen enemies can be pushed out of bounds" for weeks, sourced to a floor-650 report from a different player in a different language, and our deep floors guide already explains why: freeze is the only hard crowd control in this game, and a frozen heavyweight becomes a physics object. A floor-1000 clear built on ring-outs is that technique reaching the bottom of the mode, not a new trick. The comments agree on one more thing, and it is the part that should shape your own build: the weapon and gadget set comes out roughly the same either way. Torqscrew is in both clears. What changed at floor 1000 is what the runner does with it.
What the Clear Proves, and What It Only Suggests
These two claims arrived in the same excited hour and they are not the same strength. Splitting them is the only honest way to write this page.
| Claim | What it rests on | How strong |
|---|---|---|
| Floor 1000 was reached and cleared on 2026-08-20 | The runner's own archived stream and its descriptions, two viewers independently timestamping the winning attempt at 2:11:25 and 2:11:26, and the broadcast window from YouTube's own player data, which places that timestamp thirteen minutes before the stream ends. He has since retitled the archive "complete conquest". | Documented. Several kinds of evidence that did not have to agree, and do. |
| Floor 1000 was cleared again on 2026-08-24, by a different runner | らんど resumed a broadcast from floor 998 and cleared inside it. Two viewers timestamped the finish independently, one marking the winning attempt at 3:12:18 and one the clear at 3:15:41, and both fall inside the broadcast window YouTube reports for the stream, 00:22:53 to 03:44:01 JST, which ends five minutes after the later mark. On 2026-08-24 he published the clear himself as a 5 minute 46 second edit titled 完全制覇, the same phrase 新月 used, so this no longer rests on the audience at all. His climb to 998 is documented across eleven days in the same resume-floor titles every other runner uses. | Documented. It was thinner than the first for a day, resting on eight comments and the broadcast clock; then the runner published the clear himself and it stopped being thin. |
| The clear pays no title, costume or dialogue | A named reporter at Kotaku who reviewed the footage on 2026-08-21 looking for exactly this, and reported the absence. | Cross-checked. One outlet, but a first-hand viewing by someone whose question was the reward. |
| Floor 1000 is the last floor | Viewers of the FIRST stream reporting a completion check mark against the "Bottomless Buffet 101F+" entry six minutes after the clear, and reporting that no floor 1001 followed. We have not seen that screen. The second clear four days later added nothing here: nobody who watched it has described what came after, in either direction. | Indicated, not confirmed, and no stronger than it was on 08-20. Those reports agree with each other and that is worth less than it sounds: one audience, one screen, one moment. Agreement is not independence. A second run has now reached the same place and told us nothing about what lies past it. |
| Nintendo or the game files confirm a 1000-floor cap | Nothing. No official statement, no patch note, no datamine has been produced by anyone in any language. | No evidence at all. Nobody has claimed this, including us. |
Which Guide Sites Say the Buffet Ends, and Which Do Not
Two weeks on, coverage has split, and the split is more useful than any single verdict because none of these outlets saw anything the rest of us did not. Read the dates before the positions. An outlet that edited its page after the clear and still declines to state the ending is disagreeing. An outlet last touched before the clear is not disagreeing, it is just old, and counting it as a third opinion would be a mistake. One row has changed since we started keeping this table, and it changed on the day of our latest check.
| Outlet | Page last updated | Does it say the mode ends at 1000? |
|---|---|---|
| 攻略大百科 (JP) | 2026-08-20 | Yes, flatly: a floor-1000 conqueror appeared, so it is "proven" the mode ends at 1000. Names no player, links no footage, cites no source. Its page has not been edited since, so the verdict it published on the day of the clear is still the verdict, fourteen days later. |
| Inkipedia (EN wiki) | 2026-09-02 | Structurally yes, in the locations list, which still reads "Bottomless Buffet Floors 101-1000". The edit summary said the change was made "now that we know" and cited nothing. The article behind that link has still never been written: Bottomless Buffet returns a 404 on a page edited as recently as 2026-09-02. The wiki has been restructured around an ending it has not documented. |
| Kotaku (EN) | 2026-08-21 | Yes: "In reality, there are a limited number: 1000." The reporter reviewed the footage, which is why we cite them on the reward and not on the cap. |
| GameWith (JP) | 2026-09-03 | Yes, and this is the row that moved. Through 08-25 the body read "how many floors there are is unconfirmed as things stand", and we recorded that refusal as a position rather than staleness. That sentence is gone. The page now carries a heading, 1000階が最下層, and states that the mode continues after the secret boss and that floor 1000 is the lowest floor. It cites nothing and does not say how the figure was established. This is the only outlet on this table that has changed its answer. |
| Game8 (JP) | 2026-09-06 | No. Game8 Japan edited the page at 05:33 JST on 2026-09-06. The section headed "how many floors does the Buffet have?" discusses the floor-100 boss and describes floors 101 and later as a challenge to go as deep as possible. The number 1000 appears zero times on the page. This is the seventh logged edit in seventeen days after the first clear without a stated cap. |
| Game8 (EN) | 2026-08-23 | Yes, flatly, and this is the finding. The English property of the same brand states "the Bottomless Buffet dungeon will still have a total of 1000 floors" while the Japanese property, edited more recently, still refuses to. The English page also contradicts itself: its own meta description still describes an "endless series of floors". Same masthead, two languages, opposite answers, and only the Japanese side is doing the verifying we credit Game8 for. |
| Pocket Tactics (EN) | 2026-08-20 | Yes: the "bottomless" is "a bit of a lie, and it does actually end at level 1000". Updated about six hours after the clear, and it cites a Reddit congratulations thread. That is the clearest example on this table of what the row above the score is about: the source is the audience, not the screen. |
| Nintendo Life (EN) | 2026-07-25 | Silent. Still calls the mode a "seemingly endless stream of battles" on a page untouched since July. Listed for the same reason Altema is: so nobody counts it as a vote. |
| Altema (JP) | 2026-07-30 | Silent, and irrelevant. The page predates the clear by three weeks. Listed here so it is not mistaken for a fourth vote. |
Five outlets state that the mode ends at 1000. Game8 Japan does not. Inkipedia uses 101-1000 in its location list but has no Bottomless Buffet article, and two older outlets have not updated since before the clear. GameWith is the only outlet in this table that changed its answer, but it added no source. Game8 Japan edited again on 2026-09-06 and the number 1000 still appears zero times. This does not change the evidence level.
What Would Actually Settle It
We wrote this list once before as a list of artifacts: a wiki entry, a second clear, footage. Within a day a wiki had restructured and a guide site had declared it proven, neither having seen anything new, and our own test would have been satisfied by propagation. So it is written as evidence now, which is what it always meant. Then on 2026-08-24 the second item on the list happened, and this page barely moved. That taught us the rest of it. A second clear is an EVENT. What settles a question is the artifact an event leaves behind, and this one left none.
- ·Footage of the post-clear screen. Not a description of it, and not a report of a check mark. The screen.
- ·A second run reaching floor 1000 with whatever follows it on camera. Three runs have now reached it, on 08-20, 08-24 and 08-27, and this item is still open, because nobody watching the second or the third said what came after. Two runs failing to find a floor 1001 would be worth far more than fifty people agreeing about one. Three clears have produced one report of that screen, and one report is still one report.
- ·A floor count from the game itself: an official statement, a patch note, or a datamine anyone can reproduce.
- ·Not on this list: another outlet repeating it. That is how a claim spreads, not how it gets confirmed.
It arrived on 2026-08-24, and not from the runner we were watching. We expected ur, who had reached floor 998 and titled a stream "aiming to be the second person to floor 1000". He broadcast for eleven hours and fifty-six minutes from 998 and signed off without it. Twenty-seven minutes later らんど, who had been climbing quietly on a channel nobody was tracking, cleared floor 1000 on a stream that had been running alongside his most of the night. ur then went back to floor 998 three more times and cleared it himself at about 04:30 JST on 08-27, forty hours and thirty-six minutes of broadcast after he first reached that floor. So the ending has stopped being one person's account, and that is real progress on the clear. It is no progress at all on the cap. Nobody watching either of the later clears said what was on screen afterwards, and the third is the plainest case of it: his archive keeps running for eighteen minutes and fifty-one seconds past the timestamped finish, longer than either of the others, and the comments under it are congratulations. That gap is now the whole of what is missing, and it keeps getting smaller without closing. Three public archives now run past a clear, and the two later runners each cut their own short edit of it. None of them has been reported on by anyone asking our question. Somebody who can watch video could close this in an afternoon.
Common Questions
How many floors does the Bottomless Buffet have?
One thousand, as far as anyone has documented. Floors 1 to 99 lead to the floor-100 boss, and floors 101 to 1000 are the endless-mode stretch. Floor 1000 was cleared on 2026-08-20 and viewers report no floor 1001 followed, but Nintendo has never published a count and no datamine has confirmed one.
Has anyone cleared floor 1000?
Yes, three times. 新月 cleared it on stream at roughly 12:14 JST on 2026-08-20, on his third broadcast of attempts at that floor, with 11 seconds left on the timer. らんど cleared it independently at roughly 03:38 JST on 2026-08-24 and published his own edit of the run the same day. ur cleared it at roughly 04:30 JST on 2026-08-27, after four broadcasts and forty hours and thirty-six minutes spent on floor 998 alone. The second used a different method from the first.
What is the reward for clearing floor 1000?
The ordinary experience and rare-weapon drops that floor pays, and nothing else. No title, no costume, no dialogue. Floor 100 by comparison hands you the Legendary Loot relic and the Golden Forever outfit, so the game does mark that one.
Is floor 1000 definitely the last floor?
Not definitely. Everything pointing that way comes from viewers of the one stream where it happened, describing a completion check mark and the absence of a floor 1001. They agree with each other, but they are one audience watching one screen, which is not the same as independent confirmation. We record it as indicated rather than as fact.
What build cleared floor 1000?
By Kotaku's account of the footage: an Ultra-grade Speed Tank running Torqscrew, Jump Bomb and Blast Boot, with a charger. Torqscrew piles the floor up, Blast Boot freezes it, Jump Bomb keeps him in the air, and the charger works down the large Salmonids from above. The Ultra grade is the requirement most write-ups miss, because it is the only way a Speed Tank can hold three gadgets and borrow a Tactical one.
Is it worth grinding to floor 1000?
For the rewards, no, and that is not our opinion so much as the arithmetic: floor 990 drops what floor 1000 drops. Go down there for the climb itself, or stop at 100 with the relic and the outfit, which is where the game stops congratulating you.
