Super Spicy: Unlock, Prep & Rewards
Salmonid level 80, and it all unlocks at once when the credits roll. Here is the readiness checklist.

What Super Spicy Actually Is
Super Spicy (激辛) is the top heat tier. Every world stage in Splatoon Raiders runs at three difficulties: the base Raid level, then Spicy (辛口) and Super Spicy reruns with better rewards, and Super Spicy tops out at Salmonid level 80. It is not a separate mode or a new dungeon; it is the same stages with the enemy level raised to the game's ceiling.
That matters because the failure mode is specific. Super Spicy does not usually kill you with one surprise; it kills you by outlasting your damage until the timer runs out. Almost everything on the preparation list below is about raising damage per second, not survivability.
How to Unlock It
Beat the Salmonarch (サルモン王) in the throne room at the end of the Great Salmon Mess Hall, the game's final boss. That is the whole condition. Super Spicy is a post-credits unlock, and both Japanese databases agree on the trigger.
One detail worth stating because it changes how you plan: Game8 says the unlock applies to every dungeon at once, regardless of whether you personally cleared each one first. We previously described Super Spicy as a rerun tier "for dungeons you have already cleared". That was our own inference and we have corrected it. Treat the all-at-once behaviour as Game8's claim; it is the only source that addresses the question directly.
Which Dungeons Actually Have Super Spicy
Not all 61 stages do, and neither wiki publishes this mapping, so the rows below come from our own dungeon database. The count is 48 with Super Spicy, 13 without. Corrected 2026-08-13: an earlier version of this table said the three boss temples had no heat tiers. They do, and our own database said so at the time. We misread the three boss temples for the three hidden ruins, which are the stages that actually lack them. The corrected rows are below.
| Stage type | Heat tiers |
|---|---|
| The 45 island stages | All three tiers: base Raid level, Spicy, Super Spicy. Treasure hunts (15), dens (17), buried ruins (7) and shard mines (6). This is the bulk of the game and what a Super Spicy completion run means in practice. |
| The three boss temples | All three tiers as well, and Super Spicy tops out at Salmonid level 60, 70 and 80 respectively, so they are the one group where the ceiling is not uniform. Bowtlode Temple (フナモリア祈祷堂) pays one Whirlpool Crystal on Spicy and two on Super Spicy, which is how the difficulty is externally attested. |
| The four opening story stages | No heat tiers at all. They never gain a Spicy or Super Spicy version, so they cannot appear on a completion checklist. |
| The five Great Salmon Mess Hall stages | No heat tiers. The finale, meaning the sea surface, the three tiers of the hall and the throne room, is played once at its own fixed Raid levels 36 to 40. |
| The three hidden ruins | No heat tiers. These are the post-credits dungeons you clear once with each of the three tank types for the nine treasures that open the Bottomless Buffet; replay value comes from the tank requirement, not from heat. |
| The Bottomless Buffet | No heat tiers, because it does not need them: difficulty scales with floor depth instead, without an upper bound anyone has found. |
| All 6 Shard Mining stages | Super Spicy caps them at Salmonid level 80, every one of them with no exception in our 61-stage table. Since they are identical on difficulty, pick between them on materials, not on level. |
The Readiness Checklist
Both databases put the same item first, and it is not your weapon. Priorities below are GameWith's, which publishes an explicit ranking; Game8's prose ordering agrees with it:
| What to raise | Priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Character level to 50 | Highest | Raises HP and attack, and pays out Skill Points, which is what everything else on this list spends. Both sources name level 50 as the target before you attempt Super Spicy. Game8 recommends levelling on Baygull Beach at Spicy after the story. |
| Tank upgrades | Highest | HP and attack again, plus the Gadget Parts cost limit, the slot budget every part competes for. Raising the cap is what lets a build stop compromising. |
| Weapon upgrades | High | The most direct damage increase available. Game8 makes the sharper point: 5-star weapons have no upgrade cap, so they are the only ones worth pouring shards into long-term. Start with the Primo PET Splattershot you are holding at story clear and build from there. |
| Skill points: weapon attack, then gadget attack, then parts cost limit | High | Game8's explicit ordering. GameWith ranks weapon attack above gadget attack for the same reason: your weapon fires far more often than your gadgets do. |
| Gadget parts development | Lower | Worth doing, but it is the item both sources rank last. Parts refine a build; levels and upgrades decide whether you can hurt a level-80 Salmonid at all. |
Read the ordering and the logic falls out: the first two items raise every number you have, the third raises the number you use most, and the last one tunes. If you are stalling on Super Spicy and your character is below 50, nothing further down the list will fix it.
Which Partner: the Two Sources Disagree
GameWith names Big Man (マンタロー), and the reason is mechanical: his Showstopper applies a status effect, which is damage you do not have to aim. If you are building around Scorch or Freeze, that is a real multiplier rather than a preference.
Game8 does not pick one. Its advice is to max out the bond with every partner and take whoever suits the run, because a Showstopper is not only damage; it is how you recover when a fight has already gone wrong. Both answers are correct for different questions: GameWith is optimising throughput, Game8 is optimising for not dying. We print both rather than average them into a recommendation neither source made.
In-Run Tactics
Four things the sources agree on, plus one timing detail that is genuinely easy to miss:
Kill the dangerous large Salmonids first
Game8 names Big Shot (テッキュウ), Flyfish (カタパッド) and Smoker (スモーカー) as the priority targets. Smoker especially: it has low health, and while it lives, every other Salmonid on the field is tougher.
Do not hoard your Showstopper
The common mistake is saving it as a panic button. Game8 says to spend it when several large Salmonids appear at once or when you are being surrounded, which is to say before the situation is bad, not after. On a timer, an unspent gauge is wasted damage.
Wait before collecting Power Eggs after a Showstopper
Do not grab them the instant the Showstopper ends. Let the gauge finish draining first, then collect; otherwise the pickups are consumed while the meter is still spending and you lose the refill. This is the one detail on this page you will not work out on your own.
Fit Auto-Trigger parts to your gadgets
Game8's reasoning is human rather than mathematical: under pressure, players forget to use gadgets at all. Auto-Trigger removes the decision. A gadget that fires on its own beats a better gadget you never pressed.
Attack at maximum output, always
GameWith frames the whole difficulty around the clock: you fail Super Spicy by running out of time, not by being fragile. Playing carefully to survive is how the run dies.
What You Get
Super Spicy is where the top of the loot table lives:
5-star weapons drop only from Super Spicy content. This is the sharpest reason to run it: heat does not scale rewards across the board, but it gates the top end hard.
Primo (絶品) weapons are obtainable here too, alongside the Bottomless Buffet.
Clearing every dungeon on Super Spicy awards a gear set: メカマスター千里眼, roughly "Mech Master Clairvoyance". We have found no published English name, so the Japanese stands, exactly as it does for its sibling メカマスター韋駄天, the reward for A-ranking all four minigames.
Super Spicy FAQ
What level should I be before trying Super Spicy?
Character level 50, per both GameWith and Game8, and it is the top-priority item on both of their preparation lists, above weapons and above gadget parts. Enemies reach Salmonid level 80, so the gap is real. Game8 recommends grinding it out on Baygull Beach at Spicy once the story is done.
Do I have to clear each dungeon before its Super Spicy version unlocks?
Game8 says no. Beating the Salmonarch unlocks Super Spicy on every dungeon at once, regardless of individual clear status. It is the only source that addresses this directly, so treat it as single-sourced. Our own endgame guide previously implied the opposite; that was our inference and it has been corrected.
Is Super Spicy worth farming, or just for completion?
Worth farming, for one specific reason: 5-star weapons drop only from Super Spicy content. Difficulty is not a general reward multiplier in this game: Gadget Part quality improves from Spicy underground ruins, and most drops do not care about heat, but the top weapon rarity is gated behind this tier.
Why do I keep failing on the timer?
Because that is the intended failure mode. Super Spicy tests damage per second against level-80 health pools. If you are surviving comfortably but timing out, stop upgrading survivability: raise character level, then tank attack, then weapon attack, and spend your Showstopper the moment multiple large Salmonids are on the field rather than saving it.

Sources: GameWith「激辛の攻略のコツと攻略前の準備」and Game8 JP「激辛の攻略準備とコツ・立ち回り」, both read 2026-08-11. The "which dungeons have heat tiers" section is derived from our own verified 61-stage dungeon database, not from either wiki. Corrected 2026-08-13: that section previously denied heat tiers to the three boss temples. It was our own transcription error, not a source error: the database recorded their Spicy and Super Spicy levels all along, and the stages that genuinely lack heat tiers are the three hidden ruins. The boss temples' difficulty tiers are independently attested by the differing Whirlpool Crystal payout on Spicy versus Super Spicy. The partner disagreement is printed rather than resolved. The all-dungeons unlock behaviour is Game8-only and labelled as such. All proper nouns checked against our own weapon, gadget, Salmonid and collection databases; メカマスター千里眼 has no published English name, so the Japanese stands.
